Camp Day 2003 Raises $5.5 Million

Camp Day9,000 deserving kids thank you for your support

June 13, 2003 - By going to Tim Hortons on June 11th and buying a cup of coffee, Tim Hortons customers have helped to raise an astounding $5.5 million (CDN) on Camp Day! Some 2,200 Tim Hortons stores across Canada and 160 stores in the United States donated their entire (100%) coffee proceeds, in addition to funds raised through various Camp Day events and activities, to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. This amount substantially exceeds last year's total of $4.8 million (CDN).

"I want to thank everyone for buying a cup of coffee and participating in the many Camp Day festivities this year," said Don Schroeder, President of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation. "It's because of our customers' generosity, the dedication of Tim Hortons store owners and their staff, and the participation of many special guests and the media that the Foundation will send more than 9,000 children, who could otherwise not afford it, to camp this year."

The Tim Horton Children's Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1974 by Ron Joyce, Co-Founder of Tim Hortons, in honor of his late friend and National Hockey League star, Tim Horton. The Foundation is committed to providing an enriched and memorable camp experience for children, giving them confidence in their abilities, pride in their accomplishments and a more positive view of the world and their place in it. Since 1974, more than 54,000 children and youth have attended the Foundation's six camps - at no cost to them or their families.
