$100,000 Corporate Donation & Coin Box Collections to support UNICEF

DONATE NOW

January 18, 2010 - Tim Hortons announced today that it will support UNICEF's (United Nations Children's Fund) relief efforts for children and families devastated by the earthquake in Haiti.

Coin Box Collection Fundraiser

Starting on Monday, January 18, the familiar Tim Horton Children's Foundation coin boxes found on every Tim Hortons counter and in every drive-thru in more than 3,500 stores across Canada and the U.S. will be designated to UNICEF's Haitian Earthquake relief efforts.

Corporate Donation

An additional donation of $100,000 (CDN) is also being made to UNICEF on behalf of Tim Hortons store owners and corporate offices.

"The magnitude of this disaster is exacerbated by the lack of resources and poverty in Haiti," said Don Schroeder, President & CEO, Tim Hortons Inc. "Our store owners and corporate staff immediately wanted to help. Our hearts go out to our many staff and customers, particularly in Quebec, who have family and friends in Haiti. The coin box collection allows people to make even the smallest contribution, because as we know, every penny adds up."

Since 1964, Tim Hortons has focused on supporting children and youth in the communities in which its stores operate, making UNICEF's specific focus on children and families in Haiti an appropriate fit for the chain's donation and fundraising efforts.

"UNICEF is thrilled with this tremendous show of support from Tim Hortons," said UNICEF Canada President & CEO Nigel Fisher. "Through this donation and the continued support of Canadians, we are helping children and families in Haiti whose lives have been devastated by this disaster."
